099.9: You Can Be Super Creative in Christ!

December 4, 2019

I’m guessing you need to be super creative about something important. Jesus Christ is infinitely creative! And the New Testament worldview claims that Christ-followers have the mind of Christ. As we advance in the mind of Christ, we have boundless potential to be super creative. We can imaginate with a touch of heaven to meet needs, solve problems, and exploit opportunities! Then we can take action.

Includes audio excerpt with Sir Ken Robinson interviewed by Michael Hyatt discussing creativity.

066: Godspeed! // Winning Thoughts

066: Godspeed! // Winning Thoughts

April 11, 2019

This is Godspeed! ... punchy, bite-sized "tinysodes" from Jesus Smart. This is episode #66. We have between 12,000 and 60,000 thoughts run through our mind each day. When our thoughts start to blend with strong emotions, our brain is deeply impacted -- for the good or for the bad. Our physical brain actually changes according to how we think. New neural pathways are created. It's important that we take time to notice how we are thinking and feeling and take charge of our thought life. How we think affects everything. Paul wrote, "We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ" (2 Cor. 10:5 NASB).

042: Encore Episode — Benefit with a “Beginner’s Mind” (Minisode 6:57)

November 27, 2018

A beginner’s mind is a beautiful mind. It’s the mind of a child — questing, questioning, welcoming, learning. It is supple and receptive.

This is an Encore Episode. See the show notes page for this episode at JesusSmart.com.

“Beginner’s mind” is a concept that comes from Zen Buddhism. I’m not a Buddhist, but this particular concept resonates with me. It’s a mindset, an approach to life that is open, boundless, limitless and infinitely wealthy. Interestingly, Jesus spoke of becoming a child again through the born again experience.

Joshua Faltot and I found ourselves relaxing on adirondack chairs on a late summer night. The only thing lacking were pipes. You know, we fancy ourselves after the order of C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, and some friends, in a corner of an English pub with pipes in hand, discussing ideas that matter. Something like that.
